Very excited to have been invited to play the third edition of the Memphis Concrete festival. I’ll be performing on the second day (Sunday), which also features Ihcilon, Linda Heck, and others.
I’m excited for the next EP to come out on June 21st. I feel like these three songs inch past the previous creative boundaries of my work, and that you’ll enjoy them.
AND if you care to listen, Lee Grant will be premiering “The Dialogue” on his program The Modern World, heard every Friday on WEVL 89.9FM. You can stream it live at http://www.wevl.org
Additional personnel included longtime collaborator Eric Wilson, Kathryn Brawley Suda (who sang on TRIALS), Justice Naczycz (played in The Secret Service, plays in Mystic Light Casino as well as my current live band), and the disembodied voicemail was brilliantly left by Heather Hein.
EP2 is out now. Happy Spring!
So, I’m not gonna lie … the idea of playing a day show is extremely appealing to me, ESPECIALLY when it means I can bring a great band to town. The Empty Room was one of the acts I met while on my Tiny Tour last September, and I’ve been dying to bring them to town. Thus, Freaksgiving was born!
Could it possibly become an annual tradition? I’d like to think so. For this maiden voyage, we’re going to enjoy the musical stylings of Ben Ricketts (Oxford, MS), The Empty Room (Louisville, KY), my own band, and The Margins. I mean, and it’s happening on a Sunday and you know you’re not reeeeallly doing anything.
See you there!
It’s a pleasure to return to the Lamplighter – the last time we played there was in support of Schwervon! (great band from KC)
Also very excited to be sharing the bill with our friends Nonconnah and Blvck Hippie (whom, I’ll admit, I only recently heard but THEY ARE AWESOME).
Hope to see you there!
